The Rock Opening Scene

The Rock Opening Scene

In the opening 2 minutes of the rock it starts with the production titles without any music showing the audience the behind the scenes part of the film which then zones into dramatic war like music along with a possible war zone calls and voices from the past suggesting to the audience that something quintessential has happened or is about to happen.

With the running titles still appearing with the actors names, the images appear to be a some what sinister army environment with dark relating music giving the effect of fear and redemption to the audience but as soon as these appear the directer cuts to the main title the rock in a graphic fire imitation, giving a reference to the audience.after the main title it continues with the army representation again meaning the whole film must relate to past army experiences as the images and sounds of the aftermath of war show this.

when the army representation continues a little longer you hear the words "there not coming for us are they sir"with a face of repent while this is happening suggesting a grave injustice or betrayal has occurred and is the reason for what is about to happen next as the guard of honour sums this up for the target audience.
